Happy Birthday, Grandpa Dave!

 Hi Emma Grace,

Today May 30th, 2021 your grandpa Dave would have been 75 years old. He loooved you sooooo much. You brought him smiles like I have never seen before. I know these top two pictures are not pretty of grandpa, but it was the reality at that time. We would pop into the hospital where he spent way too much of his time. Look how adorable you are! Can you see why he lit up when you came into the room?

Emma, our entire Foege family is heartbroken that you are mere miles away and we can't see you. At some point, I know that you will reach out to any one of us. It has been SIX years since we have all been together. 

Here is my number again just in case... #305-796-8819 - The fact that you have been alienated from us just days after your daddy passed is wrong in every way. There is no excuse for alienation. 

The last time we saw you was July 30th, 2015. That is 2130 days ago! A LONG time! There is nothing ethical about alienation. There is also nothing ethical about those that aid in alienation of a child. No human with a conscience would ever alienate a child from the family that raised you and love you. I know that you comprehend this. You are a highly intelligent girl and we pray for you daily. 

It is just a matter of time when you call any one of us. Grammie, grandpa Bud, auntie Jo, Žan, Taj and many more are waiting for you to reintegrate. May you be strong. May you use that brilliant mind of yours. May you be protected and cared for... and may you heal. God Bless and love always, Auntie DDé

Grandpa Dave was nicknamed, "Dave the Wave" & his wife, "Cruisin' Susan" because they took so many cruises. What a life! They made a fun pair!

This is Grandpa Dave in Bangkok, Thailand. He would go over there to receive stem cell replacement therapy for his heart. He was well taken care of there and loved to travel too!

It’s a Sunny Day Here

 Good morning honey,

Thinking about you today as always and wondering what you’re doing and praying you are safe.  

This is one of my favorite pictures of us!

It shows how close we were and memories of our times here in Ocean Isle Beach.  I am creating memories with Žan and Taj and you are, my sweet girl, missing from our family.  

I was reading this morning about courage.  Like in the movie The Wizard of Oz.  Remember the lion, usually courageous, wanted courage as he shook in fear of what was going to happen next in his life.  The tin man wanted a heart, the scarecrow wanted a brain.  Dorothy, the little girl, just wanted to go home and have life be normal again.  She missed her family back in Kansas.  All the while in their search for Oz, that mysterious place they were in search of and where they all thought they could ask the wizard to grant them their wishes, they eventually found out they already had everything they needed.  Inside of them!  They just didn’t have the confidence and the courage to stand strong. Dorothy found out how strong she really was, she went back to Kansas and everyone got their wishes. Now the movie is a classic from 1939 and I’ve seen it a “thousand” times as most of America has, but it has great value and meaning for all of us who think we don’t have the courage to proceed with our dreams.  I remember you showing me your favorite thing in you and your daddy’s house.  It was a wooden cut out of the word “Dream”.  Never give up on your dreams.  Courage is the base word for encourage.  It holds strength and persistence and you have that in you. I encourage you to pursue your dreams. Your father had dreams too and he is now trying to help you.  His heart attack took him from us, those who love him but I know he is watching over you, the most precious thing he ever created.  He was the best “Girl Dad” any little girl could have.  Always remember that,  because you were the reason life made sense for him, the reason he got up in the morning, the reason he worked so hard and the reason for the joy in his life.  You filled a hole in his heart that only you could do.

My sweet Emma, my day is just beginning and I have much to do so I leave you now but as I always tell you, we are here for you and you are a wonderful, sweet, kind girl. Remember that!

Good morning Emma!

 Hi Emma, I am in Naples for a while with Auntie DDe’ the boys. It’s hot here now😳. I didn’t expect the temperatures to be in the 90’s. Grandpa is at home where I will join him in a couple weeks.  Do you realize that we are 20 miles away from where you live?  Crazy that we are so close and we can’t see you.  I still look for you around and about on our adventures and errands.  Will I recognize you?  If you see me, please come up to me.  I haven’t changed much except my hair is certainly more white than last time we saw each other!  

A couple weeks ago, we met up at a restaurant in Punta Gorda with my two sisters and their husbands for lunch. We missed havingAuntie Jo, Grandpa and You.  I’ll send you a picture of all of us.  We are your family waiting for you.  We know it’s not your choice and also know you have been lied to about us and your daddy.  When someone loves another, it is out of love they share and do everything possible to make them happy and fulfilled.  You deserve better in your life and when you realize that all these wonderful people are out in the world waiting for you, you will be surprised. We will be jumping for joy that you are free to make your life better, happier.  The love that waits for you will fill you up.

Good Morning

 Hi Honey,  it’s Friday, sun is shining and cool this morning.  I am warm and cozy sitting on my couch writing to my favorite girl.  I looked up and saw this reflection on the window shade from our wind chimes outside.  The wind chimes were a gift from Grandpa’s sister after your Daddy died.  The actual chimes have inscribed the verse from Daddy’s prayer card.  So as the sun rises and shines down on this early morning I see a beautiful greeting to start my day.  I gentle “Hi” from up above.  Comforting and reassuring that Daddy is watching and still with us somehow.

Happy Valentines Day

 Today is Sunday, February 14, 2021 and I hope you’re having a special day.  I talked to the boys today and they were on the way to the park so I know your weather is great in Naples. Very cold and rainy for us but it’s okay.  We are safe and warm inside and checking in on all our family and friends by phone.

I have many questions for you as I write to you each time but today I am curious What do kids do on Valentines Day these days?  I am so out of the loop and I’m interested if 13 year old girls even recognize it as a messaging or gift day or pay no attention to it! Grandpa had a beautiful card waiting for me this morning along with chocolate covered strawberries.  He always remembers!  We had our coffee and talked and watched the rain 😌

This is my Valentine bag to be filled for you when we are together again to celebrate Valentines Day.  Filling it with love for you right now.
